Public Health Strategic Plan for the Auckland region launched

The Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) launched a new public health Strategic Plan for the region at Manawanui marae in Pt Chevalier.

In attendance were representatives from the Ministry of Health, Waitemata DHB, Hapai Te Hauora, Manukau City Council and, ARPHS management.

The launch was an opportunity for ARPHS to showcase the plan and to meet with key partners to realise the plan’s intentions and priorities.

Pita Paul,(ARPHS), spoke poignantly in his address, which was also reflected in ARPHS waiata ‘purea nei’, “the plan will experience tumultuous weather during its life, it will be scattered by the wind, washed by the rain but also uplifted by the sun. I look forward to taking this journey with you all”. The strategic plan was then blessed by Raniera Bassett and Takutai Wikiriwhi.

“I am proud of ARPHS and the commitment made to strengthen relationships with manawhenua and to tackle the high needs and inequalities that exist in the Auckland region, said Amiria Reriti, Maori service development manager, ARPHS.

ARPHS Service Manager, Monica Briggs, thanked all involved for their contributions in helping shape the Strategic Plan and her heartfelt thanks to everyone for contributing to make the day such a success, adding, “there is enthusiasm for the plan and a commitment to build on our successes, reinforce relationships and to be future focused so as to improve the wellbeing of all Aucklanders.”
