Vaka Ola Charter

At Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS), the health needs of the Pacific Island people are derived from the Vaka Ola Charter. This document forms the guidelines to advise and conduct affairs for the Pacific Island people, in conjunction with the objectives and policies provided by ARPHS. Therefore, the ARPHS programmes support the pacific island community of Auckland at a high level of professional and cultural appropriateness.

By adhering to the Vaka Ola Charter, ARPHS Pacific Island Team ensures ongoing health needs are maintained and further enhanced in response to the physical, social, spiritual and economic needs of the community. This is implemented through promoting, developing and providing public health programmes, resources and activities that are reflective of their cultural values and holistic view of health.
