In line with the work of the State Services Commission, ARPHS is progressively moving towards an outcomes-based approach for all of our work. This transition from outputs to outcomes is detailed in our Service Delivery Plan (SDP), the latest version of which has just been completed.
The SDP shows how ARPHS’s work contributes to key health outcomes for the Auckland region. A monitoring framework, which will track progress towards achieving these outcomes, is integrated into the SDP.

Every ARPHS programme is now arranged in a visual ‘outcomes hierarchy’, which sets out the relationship between high-level outcomes and on-the-ground projects. We expect to continue refining these hierarchies as the SDP and related monitoring framework are developed over the next couple of years.
The latest iteration of the SDP covers a three-year time span, from 1 July 2007 through to 30 June 2010. There are two versions of the document: a summary version and the full SDP.
The summary version (1.2Mb pdf) gives a broad picture of the outcomes we want to achieve, programmes ARPHS will deliver and how we will measure success. This document is best suited to those who are not familiar with ARPHS’s work.
The full-length version of the SDP (1.8Mb pdf) contains more details on the outcomes ARPHS wants to achieve and how we will measure success. It also contains an overview of each programme and a summary of the programme’s components. This version of the document is best suited to those who have some understanding of ARPHS’s work.
