Spring is in the air and it’s a great time to get your walking shoes on, grab your workmates and get a Feetbeat team together. The Feetbeat Challenge is a fun walking programme that starts on 15 September 2008.
Feetbeat encourages workplaces and organisations to get teams of up to eight people together and participate in regular exercise. Teams set a goal of a distance they would like to reach by choosing a destination on the New Zealand map and work towards reaching or exceeding this distance. Maybe you could walk to Bluff and back!
Teams are encouraged create unique and fun names and take photos of their achievements and there are prizes available for the best name and photo and story. Although Feetbeat isn’t intended to be competitive it can foster a fun interdepartmental rivalry and competition within the workplace.
Feetbeat was launched by Auckland Regional Public Health Service in 2004 and has been growing since it began with 204 teams participating in 2007.
