Water Borne Illness

The Disease Investigation team at Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) is responsible for investigating water borne diseases such as Giardiasis, Cryptosporidiosis and Legionellosis. Links to facts sheets on each of these diseases are given below.

The Giardiasis fact sheet (PDF, 1.09MB) has information regarding higher risk cases such as food handlers, healthcare workers, children under five years of age and early childhood education workers.

The Cryptosporidium fact sheet (PDF, 112.94 KB) contains information for cases to identify the common source of infection in recreational water exposure, for example contaminated swimming pools or contaminated drinking water supplies.

See the ARPHS Legionellosis page for more information. The fact sheet presents information regarding the source of the disease.
