The Auckland Regional Public Health Service for Refugee Health plays a major role in supporting and strengthening healthy refugee communities across the Auckland region.
There are about 40,000 people of refugee background in New Zealand of which, about 50 percent live in the Auckland Region.
Each year New Zealand accepts 750 'quota' refugees for residency plus other refugees who settle through family reunification and asylum.
