Water Borne Illness

The Disease Investigation team at Auckland Regional Public Health Service is responsible for investigating water borne diseases such as Giardiasis, Cryptosporidiosis and Legionellosis. Links to facts sheets on each of these diseases are given below.

Giardiasis

The Giardiasis fact sheet (1.1 Mb pdf) has information regarding higher risk cases such as food handlers, healthcare workers, children under 5 years of age and early childhood education workers.

Cryptosporidiosis

Information on cases investigated to identify the common source of infection in recreational water exposure, for example contaminated swimming pools or contaminated drinking water supplies, is contained in the Cryptosporidium fact sheet (113kb pdf).

Legionellosis

The Legionellosis fact sheet (41kb pdf) presents information regarding the source of the disease.
